Taylor County Schools - Central Office Summer Hours

Great opportunity for those who are looking to become nurses!

Report cards have been mailed out, so be on the lookout for them within the next week's time!
If you failed a core class this semester or in the past and have not made it up yet then there will be a summer school application included with your report card. You have until June 12th to bring it completed to the main office at GHS or mail it (postmarked by June 12th). You are also welcome to contact GHS counselors before then to get signed up for summer school - you do not have to wait to receive the application in the mail if you do not want to.
If you failed any first semester classes and have not made them up and choose not to do summer school, they will be placed in your fall schedule and you will be required to retake the class over.
Summer school details are included in the photo attached to this post.

Congratulations to students in the Therapeutic Services Program at Grafton High School for completing the Certified Nursing Assistant Program. Nine of the ten students successfully passed the CNA Exam on May 11, 2024. The remaining student will sit for the exam over the summer!
Students completing the program (left to right in the picture) were Haley Stackhouse, Jenna Austin, Shyanne Sigley, Alexis Newman, Holly Conrad, Chloe Peters, Mikhayla Kelly, Ella-Sandra Birmingham, Kyrie McKay and Kalina Marcano-Javier.

Parents/Guardians:
Please help us gather information/feedback regarding our current communication tools by completing the Taylor County School(TCS) Communication Parent Survey.

Thank you!

GHS Summer School will be held from July 8th through July 25th. If you failed a core class (English, Math, Science, or Social Studies) this year or in previous years and have not made it up, you will need to enroll in summer school or it will be placed back in your schedule and you will be required to retake the course. If you have failed a course and do not receive an application or have failed a course in the past and still not made it up, it is your responsibility to contact your counselor at the high school as soon as possible to get an application filled out.
For those who failed core classes in the Spring 2024 semester, summer school applications will be mailed home with report cards. You must turn completed applications into the main office or mail them by Wednesday, June 12th.
Daily attendance is required Monday through Thursday from 8:00-12:00. GHS Bus service will be available, but will not start until Tuesday, July 9th so students are responsible for finding transportation on July 8th.
See image for further details regarding summer school. If you have any questions, please contact GHS.

GHS Junior, Olivia Miller, is in the running as a finalist for the WV Scholars program. Please help us out by voting for her here: http://wvscholar.com/vote.cfm
Feel free to share this post! Best of luck, Olivia!

That's a lot of work in 48 hours. Today the City of Grafton helped with tree removal and trimming. Leer Mine completed the building demolition.

Does your student have medicine at school you need to pick up?
You may pick up during school hours from 5/29 to 6/4. There will be one evening session from 6:30 to 7pm on Tuesday June 4th. Parents or guardians must pick up medications.
Medications not picked up by June 4th will be disposed of. Thanks!

Congratulations to all of Grafton High School graduates in the Class of 2024. We are proud of all of your accomplishments!
Please review the information below regarding tonight's graduation ceremony. Due to the weather, we will be holding the ceremony inside the Scotty Hamilton Gymnasium.
Graduation will be live streamed on our Grafton High School Bearcats Facebook page.
We look forward to seeing you all this evening!

I apologize for the typo. Senior Sermon is Wednesday, May 22.

Reminder that senior sermon is tomorrow night, Wednesday, May 21, at 7:00 PM in the auditorium. Seniors are to wear their cap and gown and be in the cafeteria by 6.45. This event is open to the public. Family and friends are invited to attend. Looking forward to seeing everybody in their cap and gown tomorrow.

Please join us in congratulating our TCS “Students of the Month" for May. Each of these exceptional students was selected as an excellent ambassador for his or her school. Congratulations to each of these excellent individuals! Way to represent!

ParentGuidance.org, a 24/7 online platform, assists those who care for children to address and elevate mental health wellness and self-care. These tools are designed to enhance the human connections vital for school communities to thrive, and West Virginia is the first to offer them statewide.
Check out this resource at: https://parentguidance.org/

Good morning. This Friday is senior breakfast from 8 to 9. Senior parents are invited to attend. Unfortunately, we do need to limit it to just parents/guardians as we have limited space in the cafeteria.
Underclassmen are not required to report to school until 9 o'clock this Friday. If you need to ride a bus, please come at normal time and there will be a study hall available until 9.

Next year seniors- You must have your immunization by July 1 to participate in any school activity including practices, band camp, weightlifting, Entertainers, etc...
Good news - you can get your immunization at school on Thursday, 5/23, at 8:00 am in the nurse's office. The Taylor County Health Department will be here to administer the vaccine. You must have a signed permission form and your insurance card (or copy of insurance card).
There is a picture of the permission form attached to this post. I also sent it in LiveGrades.

Thank you to the College of Business and Aviation (CoBA) at Fairmont State University for hosting the second annual Information Systems Management (ISM) Day on Campus event. Fourteen GHS CTE sophomores and juniors (in current technology courses with Mrs. Ward and/or Mrs. Bolyard) were able to attend and participate in hands-on activities on Friday, May 17, 2024.
Students received Model Schedule information along with career information showing recent graduates in high demand fields and employed by local employers. Students worked with faculty mentors in team-based ISM activities including creating podcasts, designing a website, developing data visualization dashboards, and exploring eCommerce.
