PaperPie Book Fair Starts Monday, October 21st!
Dear West Taylor Elementary Families,
The wait is over—our PaperPie Book Fair starts Monday, October 21st! We’re excited to welcome you to explore a wide variety of books and educational materials, including:
Books from Usborne and Kane Miller Publishing
SmartLab STEAM Learning Kits for hands-on science fun
Educational Puzzles and Games for all ages
And more exciting resources!
Event Details:
Dates: October 21-23 during school
Family Night: After school on October 23rd
Payment Options:
We accept cash, credit cards, Venmo, PayPal, and CashApp. Please use the "friends and family" option to ensure the school receives full rewards. For Venmo, PayPal, or CashApp, you can prepay or request an invoice by leaving your phone number, and I will send you a payment link. Here are the handles:

This year’s change wars winners, Mrs. Himes’ class, enjoyed their pizza party today! 🍕 Thank you to everyone who partipated this year in making change wars a success! A Grand Total of $3,305.77 was raised this year. Again, THANK YOU!

Taylor County Schools hosted a farmer's market for our students today. Students participated in agriculture lessons to learn where their food comes from and earned $4 in vouchers to spend at the farmer's market. Farmers from Green Acres Farms sold locally grown items. Melinda Frances, from the WV Office of Child Nutrition in conjunction with Appalachian Acres Farms, provided microgreen taste testing. Students also received a “Potter the Otter’s Market Adventure” book from the Taylor County School Curriculum Department and seed packets from WV Extension.
Thank you Sharon Messenger for reading the book “Chicks in the City” by Matt Browning (Illustrated by Ashley Teets) to 6 classes at West Taylor Elementary School today as part of the Mountain Readers Become Leaders literacy initiative through West Virginia Public Broadcasting!

We are having a pink/denim day on Thursday, October 10th, to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
