February 24, 2021
Dear Families and Students,
What a year it has been! Changes are coming to schooling once again across West Virginia and in Taylor County Schools. The Taylor County Board of Education, at its meeting last night, February 23, 2021, determined all students in grades PK-8 will return to school five days a week as will grades 9-12 as long as the WVDHHR map is not red. PK students will attend four days a week with Wednesday remaining a day of planning and assisting families with meetings and other necessary items. This change will begin Monday, March 1, 2021 for all students in grades PK-12. The superintendent reserves the right to close classrooms or schools when, in consultation with the Grafton Taylor Health Department, it is warranted.
Today, meetings were held with all building and county level administrators to discuss needs that may not have been addressed to open our schools. All schools will be fully stocked with necessary cleaning supplies, masks, hand sanitizer and other items used to keep staff and students safe. We will make no changes to bus schedules or start and stop times at our schools. Mitigation strategies will be expected to be followed at all times when feasible. All students and staff will be expected to wear masks at all times including transportation, maintain distancing when possible, practice safe cough and sneeze etiquette, hand hygiene, stay in core groups and stay home when ill. Visitors will not be permitted in schools during the instructional day but can attend sports contests according to plans developed by Taylor County Middle School and Grafton High School.
We thank you for adapting to the multiple changes since last March and continued support throughout this pandemic. We have learned many lessons together and because of the efforts of many remain Taylor Strong.
Warm regards,
Christy Miller, Superintendent

Important Information on DocuSign
To lessen the passing back and forth of papers, and make things easier for blended and virtual students, we are distributing important back to school paperwork via DocuSign to each student’s email. There are documents that require electronic signatures and others that are just for your information. The email will be from “Taylor County Schools”.
DocuSign is an application that provides electronic signature technology. It will eliminate the need for paper documentation.
This link provides instructions, if you feel you need it, to use DocuSign:

If you do not see it in your inbox, please check your junk folder.
You need to complete the documents in one sitting, it does save partial entries. It should take no longer than 10-15 minutes, and you will get a copy after completion.
