Special education is providing specially designed instruction to students with exceptionalities to meet their needs to enable them to master the curriculum. Special education focuses on a student's strengths while supporting their weaknesses. Each child is different and therefore the educational plan is individualized.
Student Assistance Teams (SAT) provide support for general education students who are struggling with academics, behavior, or attendance.
The following information is intended to clarify the purpose, rationale and responsibilities involved in the pre-referral process for responding to the needs of students suspected of having learning difficulties.
